Billing and Fees
Why Do We Charge Private Fees?
While we work hard to keep quality imaging services available and affordable to our patients, just like other businesses, our running costs continue to grow. This includes the cost of staff, rent, electricity, medical products, and technologies. Unlike many other areas of medical practice covered under Medicare, patient rebates for diagnostic imaging services have been largely frozen since 1998. This means that Medicare patient rebate increases have not been in line with the increased costs of providing a quality imaging service. Therefore, in order to continue to provide a high-quality medical imaging service to our patients, a private fee is required to cover the costs of providing many of our services.
We Accept Payment By:
Cash, Credit card (Visa, Mastercard) or EFTPOS.
Direct Credit into our bank account – bank details provided on your invoice. If you have any queries about your account, please speak with our friendly reception staff on the day of your appointment.
Billing Policy
Our private fees may be claimable against Medicare; however, an out‐of‐pocket (or Gap) payment may also apply.
We understand that at times, we will have patients whose financial circumstances limit their ability to meet private fees. This includes those who hold a Commonwealth Government issued Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card. For those eligible patients, we do offer discounted fees on some services.
Please note we do not accept Commonwealth Seniors Health Card. We perform examinations at the request of your treating doctor. If you are concerned about the need for any examination, we encourage you to discuss this with them.
Speeding Up Your Medicare Refund Claim
X-Ray Newstead has Medicare Australia online claiming available at our clinic. Your Medicare rebate can be paid directly into your bank account usually within 24 hours, depending on your bank.
WorkCover and Motor Vehicle Accident Accounts
These accounts are ultimately the patients’ responsibility. Please ensure your WorkCover claim is submitted and you notify us of your claim number as soon as available. For Motor Vehicle Accident claims, please identify and advise us of your MAIB insurance details.
If you have any questions regarding our billing policy, please do not hesitate to speak with our friendly staff prior to your appointment.
